Children

Children have a right to education, to grow up in a secure environment and to be protected from any kind of violence and abuse. Sakhi intervenes, whenever there is a need to do so, for example when children are trapped in child labour, child marriage, the Devadasi system or domestic violence like malpractice. Sakhi also provides help for mentally or physically disabled human beings, so that they are capable of learning and living easily.

Crisis Intervention

Crisis Intervention

For example, crisis intervention means to identify the school dropouts and to admit them to a school hostel or to recognize those children who suffer from mental or physical disabilities, so that they can attend health camps and - if necessary - receive referrals. Furthermore, Sakhi conducts tuitions concerning governmental schools and Eco-clubs.

Awareness

Awareness

The first step towards a secure and successful future for our children is to make them aware of their rights and their potential. Thus, creating consciousness about anti-child labour, anti-child marriage and the abolition of the Devadasi system is one of the most important tasks of our organization. By means of RTE (right to education) workshops and quiz competitions, for instance in schools, we aim to broaden the children’s knowledge about all those essential issues.

Skill Improvements

Skill Improvements

To broaden the children’s knowledge and to exploit their full potential, Sakhi organizes workshops concerning arts, crafts, environmental, educational and cultural issues. Furthermore, the Trust provides summer camps, daily tuitions and it gives information about career chances.
